Hi,
I was down at the dark side last month and i came across a top anchor for a climb that isn't in the latest guide book. My Question is how can you tell if this is a new project (not to be climbed by me) or a completed climb (open to everyone) I don't want to go stepping on any toes so any imput would be greatly appreciated.

In my years of route development, it has always been custom to put flagging tape on the first bolt if it is a project. A good person to ask would probably be Aaron Hamilton as he tend to know what's going on in Nanaimo. You can find him at Romper Room.

If it is to the right of "The Big Kahuna" I put those bolts there. Dave and I tried it but have abandoned it as the line isn't very good. Feel free to jump on it. I was going to pull the bolts but haven't got around to it.
As for projects, TR'ing something is technically not climbing it so there aren't really any restrictions on someone TR'ing another persons project. Leading an unfinished project is a different story. If the route setter didn't want anyone on the route at all they would remove the hangers.
