nicolel 1 post I realize this forum isn't too active, but thought I'd give it a shot anyways. I am interested in learning to climb when the weather gets better. I love the outdoors, am quite athletic, love a challenge, and looking for some excitement! Basicly, I'm hoping someone here could point me in the right direction. How would I go about learning? For the time being(ugh, winter), are there any indoor climbing centres within the Comox Valley area? Is there such a thing as lessons and coaches? I can't seem to find any information about climbing centres in the CV, but I have seen advertisements for one in Campbell River. Good place to learn? or no? Thanks in advance.
john 102 posts there is a small indoor climbing wall in Cumberland at the CRI centre (336-2231). I work there. its only open friday night and sat/sunday afternoon. its a bit old but only cost $4 if you have your gear. vs $12-$15 at any other climbing gym. these guys are from Cumberland and do all sorts of courses. http://www.islandalpineguides.com/ indoor you can learn the basics and will meet people that could take you outside to learn real climbing. Also read as many books as you can on the subject. john
