I was up on the Comox Glacier via Frog Ponds last weekend and wanted to give a quick report:
-Loggers were on strike, so you can get in any time of day.
-The last few km of the road have large ditches across them. I was able to get in about halfway with my honda civic before giving up. A Ford Taurus gave up one ditch farther than we did. Trucks and SUVs were getting all the way up no problem. We only had a half hour walk up the road from where we stopped, though.
-The entire route was in very good condition. Still plenty of snow patches, but none causing any issues like scary runouts or cornices or anything.
-No crevasses visible on the glacier except for at one steep convexity which had narrow bridged crevasses.
We had a great time in beautiful conditions. It's a great time to get up there because of the strike.

Ya it sounds like Timberwest and others will be on strike for a while. Those are cross ditches or water bars across the road. good access to many areas.
