Hey All,
I'm looking at setting some new routs and I was wondering what people have been using for drills? Is there anyone who would be willing to rent out a rock drill? Or does anyone know of any companies that rent them? I have tried a few rental shops and have had no luck so far. If I'm going to shell out $450 for a drill I wanted to exhaust all my options first.
Cheers,
Remy

I use the Bosch (Annihilator)and it is still good after several years and hundreds of holes drilled. The other company to get is Hilti (TE 7-A). A new drill will cost more than $450. A cordless drill good enough for settings routes will cost more than $700 for the Bosch and likely more than a $1000 and up for the Hilti. As for the rentals I might try Home Depot or ask around at a local climbing gym. Someone there might no where you coulod borrow one.

Its 100% important that the drill must use SDS bits. Your totally wasting your time otherwise regardless what the sales dude at the hardware store says. A pawn shop may have one for $450.

I was looking a picking up a used Bosch, so that is good to know that they have worked well for you. Home Depot doesn't rent them. I'm still hoping to rent one from a fellow climber, and I would buy my own bits of course :)
